As a key partner of the Next Tourism Generation Alliance (NTG) – which is the first partnership and alliance for improving a collaborative and productive relationship between education and industry – People 1st International are looking to collect views on the current gaps and future needs in digital, green and social skills for hospitality and tourism, as part of two initiatives that aim to establish a strategy for skills development in the industry.
People 1st International are working with UKHospitality as a lead partner to help determine the future skills requirements across the sector from entry-level through to management.
The NTG skill survey results will be used in establishing a blueprint strategy for skills development and to influence national and regional policies in the tourism sector across Europe. The results will also be used to inform a comprehensive piece of research with businesses across each touchpoint of the tourism and visitor experience in response to the Tourism Sector Deal – announced by government on 27 November 2018 to attract more domestic and overseas visitors and help drive major economic growth.
A second-stage survey focused on operational and management skills needs will be released in the coming months to determine how the industry needs to respond to the future requirements from entry-level roles through to management.
