Wembley Stadium Tours announce hat-trick of enhancements

Wembley Stadium has announced a hat-trick of new visitor enhancements, including free group coach parking, a new onsite photography solution and brand new changing rooms, which will all be in place for when the tour reopens later this year. The additions are part of a raft of enhancements initially intended for the Euro 2020 tournament, which will now take place in June 2021. This means that Wembley Stadium Tour visitors will get the opportunity to experience the ground-breaking additions before most international players.

A major transformation of the dressing rooms has seen the entire layout reconfigured with design input from the England Technical team and the players themselves, to ensure the facilities utilise the latest in high-performance thinking and provide England teams with the best chance for success.  A new U-shaped layout, which is in line with UEFA and Fifa guidelines for venues hosting major tournament finals, provides a more effective environment for communication between players and coaches. Visitors can sit in the seat of their favourite England player or take a look at Manager Gareth Southgate’s new office which he helped to design. The new updates are ideal for groups interested in architecture, design, sports science and psychology to explore how the new layouts affect focus and ability.

The new onsite photo solution allows guests to capture a series of 11 images against different photo backgrounds and themes. The brand new installation is situated at the start of the tour and offers visitors the opportunity to purchase printed copies of the photos as well as a souvenir photobook. Completing the hat-trick of additions, groups arriving by coach for their Stadium Tour can now park for free, provided parking is booked in advance. Drivers are also able to join their groups’ tours on a complementary basis.

Simon Wickham, Senior Commercial Manager at the FA said, “Wembley is an iconic stadium with a history like no other venue, and we are always looking to evolve the venue’s infrastructure to ensure that it stays at the forefront of sports and entertainment and maintains its industry-leading status. We’re delighted to bring these latest developments to the Stadium Tour – they’re part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the Tour remains a best in class, state of the art experience for everyone to enjoy. We’re looking forward to welcoming groups when the Tour reopens, and to getting their feedback.”

Other improvements to the Stadium which both Tour guests and viewers on TV will notice include a brand new pitch with the surface having been reconstructed and grown over a 14-week period – the first time this process has taken place in a major European stadium during the winter months. The new surface uses the very latest turf technology with over 75,000 km of grass fibres – composed of 97% organic grass and 3% artificial grass fibres – stitched into the layers of sand beneath the pitch. A new state-of-the-art sound system and 368 new LED floodlights have also been installed to enhance the event-day experience.
