Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has launched its Summer 2022 programme as it rebuilds its schedule. Described as ‘cautiously optimistic’, the schedule will see Loganair return to international flight next year for the first time since the start of the pandemic. It will also introduce new routes to its domestic network and offer a modest increase in frequency on several existing routes.
Customers can now book flights from 27 March 2022, flying on over 1,300 flights per week with 58,000 weekly seats available across 73 domestic and international routes. Flights can be booked until mid-August 2022, and future flights beyond that date will become bookable around 11 months in advance.
From 27 March 2022 Loganair will start connecting Teesside and Southampton, flying daily with the exception of Saturdays with a lead in fare of £70.99. The service provides the opportunity for passengers to fly from Aberdeen to Southampton with a one-stop service where they can remain on the aircraft for the whole journey. Teesside will also link with Dublin from 27 May 2022, operating four jet flights each way per week.
Flights between Aberdeen and Dublin will expand up to nine per week in each direction as part of the Summer 2022 schedule, and the Inverness and Dublin service will recommence from 27 May 2022 up to four times per week with lead-in fares of £65.00 from Inverness or €76.15 from Dublin.
A new service between Shetland and Dundee will allow for an important one-stop service between Shetland and London City for the first time. The route is set to commence from 9 May 2022 and will operate twice weekly on a Monday and Thursday for business and leisure travellers alike – with a lead in fare of £96.99 to Dundee and £129.99 to London. Customers flying from Shetland to Dundee or London City will now also be able to use their Air Discount Scheme for the entire journey.
The strong business, leisure and cultural links with Norway will be reinvigorated with Loganair’s resumption of services to both Stavanger and Bergen next year. Regular flights will operate from Edinburgh and Newcastle to both cities, and the important historic ties between the Shetland Islands and Norway will be maintained with the reintroduction of seasonal Sumburgh-Bergen flights.
Complementing the new route and restored international services, Loganair will also be expanding services on several of its UK domestic and Isle of Man routes:
- There will be additional services during the peak summer from Manchester and Edinburgh to Cornwall Airport Newquay (increasing to seven and six flights each week respectively)
- There will be a new one-stop, same-plane service linking Cornwall Airport Newquay with Inverness every Saturday. The one-stop, same-plane service between Aberdeen and Newquay will be increased from five to six days per week between May and September.
- Isle of Man services will be flown by larger ATR72 aircraft, moving from 48 seats per flight daily to 72 seats. Frequency of service between the Isle of Man and Manchester will increase to four flights each way per weekday, and flights between Isle of Man and Liverpool will increase from two to three flights each way every week day.
- There is a boost at City of Derry where London Stansted services will increase from 15 to 17 flights each week in the peak season. Larger ATR72 aircraft will be deployed on the Liverpool – City of Derry route to provide more seats every day after a very strong first summer on the route this year.
- Edinburgh – Cardiff flights will increase to six times weekly.
- A second Glasgow to Sumburgh service will be introduced on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, and Loganair will resume a fourth flight between Glasgow and Stornoway on Mondays and Fridays.
Loganair is one of only two passenger airlines in Europe which Eurocontrol data indicates are flying more in 2021 than they did in 2019. To support its industry-leading position in the recovery from the pandemic, the airline has chosen to focus on key destinations and will therefore be ceasing services to Donegal and Jersey from the end of this summer season. However Loganair will continue to serve Jersey via its relationship with codeshare partner Blue Islands.

We’ll only add flights and routes where we are wholly confident that customer demand will support such moves. Yet, after two years of scaling back services, we’re delighted to be able to look ahead to a busy summer across our network in 2022.”
Every Loganair ticket includes a complimentary checked baggage allowance and a contribution towards the cost of fully offsetting the carbon emissions from the flight under Loganair’s industry-leading GreenSkies environmental initiative, introduced in June 2021.
