Blenheim Palace has won Silver in the prestigious Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category at the 2018 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

The Oxfordshire UNESCO World Heritage Site was shortlisted alongside Moors Valley Country Park and Forest and the National Memorial Arboretum, who won Gold, at the awards ceremony held at the Bath Assembly Rooms on Monday.

Nearly 350 organisations from across 18 different categories initially applied to be considered for the awards, which are acknowledged to be the most significant accolades in English tourism.

“To have made it to the final when we were up against so many other excellent candidates was amazing and to have won Silver is fantastic,” said Stephanie Duncan, Blenheim’s Head of Marketing and PR.

“We’d also like to congratulate both Moors Valley Country Park and Forest for making it into the final and the National Memorial Arboretum for winning Gold.

“To be recognised as among the very best in the country is fabulous and it’s thanks to the hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of the entire team. Hopefully we can go one better next year!” she added.

The VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2018 celebrate the best of English tourism. They promote high standards, helping to ensure England’s place as a world-class destination.

VisitEngland Chief Executive Sally Balcombe said, “These awards are a celebration of our thriving tourism industry. They highlight the people and the organisations that deliver amazing experiences for visitors, raising the profile of England as a world-class destination.

“The finalists have shown themselves to be of the highest calibre, using their talent and innovation to deliver excellence.”
