The Cairngorms National Park is celebrating the creation of new dark sky experiences that coincide with 2023’s International Dark Sky Week between 15 – 22 April.
Several businesses across the Cairngorms National Park have taken part in a 10-week dark sky experience training course. Through this dedicated training, businesses from across the Cairngorms have created various dark sky-specific experiences. From forest bathing by moonlight and catching meteor showers over a loch, to gazing at the stars from the comfort of a glamping pod, there are a host of new dark sky experiences available for visitors and travel trade to book this year.
Mark Tate, CEO at VisitCairngorms said, “We’re lucky to have large areas with very low light pollution in the Cairngorms, which is excellent for stargazing. We’re also home to the most northernly Dark Sky Park in the world, in Tomintoul and Glenlivet. With the recent aurora being spotted across the UK, we know from website activity there is a strong interest in dark skies experiences. These new bookable products will allow our visitors to discover and connect with the wonders of the night sky.”
