Heather McKinlay and Robert Kidd, the founders and directors of Glasgow-based specialist tour operator McKinlay Kidd Limited have announced the promotion of Zoe Davidson to become Managing Director of the company.
Zoe joined McKinlay Kidd in August 2017 as General Manager, Sales and Operations, and will now take on the overall day-to-day running of the business. The founders will retain oversight and leadership as Co-Chairs.
Established since 2003, McKinlay Kidd provides tailormade holidays and small group tours, including rail tours, throughout the UK and Ireland. Earlier this year the company received the accolade of Best Specialist Tour Operator in the 2023 Telegraph Travel Awards and boasts a score of 100% in independent reviews from customers at AITO.com.
Robert Kidd, Founder at McKinlay Kidd said, “We are very proud of what we have established over the last 20 years with McKinlay Kidd. We are on a strong growth trajectory based on our core focus of providing fantastic holidays throughout Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales and the Channel Islands. The time is right for us to take a step back. Zoe not only shares our values but has been instrumental in embedding these within our team. The business is in very safe hands under her day-to-day guidance going forwards.”
The company has rebounded strongly since the Covid pandemic, thanks to its solid foundation of providing high quality, experience-led trips for both the domestic market and inbound international customers. Creativity and innovation lie behind the design of carefully researched itineraries providing insider tips and inspiration, to help customers venture off the beaten path or beyond the end of the rail line.
