Hovertravel has increased its evening and night-time schedule by introducing 66 additional flights during the summer season of July and August.
Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel said, “Our customers have said they would like to see later flights to and from the Isle of Wight at certain times of the year. Additionally, we already have timetabled extra flights to support events such as Big Beach Weekender, Isle of Wight Pride and the Victorious Festival. These festivals are within walking distance of our terminals and the later flights provide great opportunities for people to travel in the opposite direction.
“We are promoting these extra flights from now to give customers plenty of time to plan some of their summer evenings, on both sides of Solent.”
The longer days and warmer temperatures of the late summer months, combined with the school holidays, provide an opportunity to enjoy various evening activities. Southsea and Ryde offer award-winning restaurants, several theatres, and the chance to view sunsets with friends and family, making them suitable night-time destinations.
In Ryde, culinary enthusiasts have plenty of options, including The Duck restaurant and Michelin-starred chef Robert Thompson’s RT Café Grill & Thompson’s, both conveniently located just minutes from the terminal. For those interested in cultural experiences, Kings Theatre in Southsea offers a diverse programme of tribute acts from various music genres.
Loretta added, “Our customers also tell us that as well as going out, they want the late flights to extend the time they have when hosting or visiting friends and family. So now you can plan barbecues, parties and get-togethers secure in the knowledge you can fly back across the Solent in under 10 minutes.”
Hovertravel’s late flights start as early 21:15, with several operating late into the night and even past midnight.
