London Transport Museum is partnering with OUTbound, Transport for London’s LGBTQ+ Colleague Network Group, to host an after-hours Museum Late on Friday 7 June.
The Pride on the Move Museum Late will celebrate Londoners and transport workers from the LGBTQ+ community, and their experiences in the city. The line up for the evening will include short talks, creative workshops, and a pub-style quiz. Guests can also enjoy a DJ set, cocktails, and explore the museum’s exhibitions after-hours.
For one night only, a striking Tube-themed gown co-designed and worn by Crossrail Programme Accountant Ervin Corzo-Rueda for the 2023 Pride march will be on display. In a craft workshop, guests can take inspiration from Corzo-Rueda’s creation to design their very own Pride in London look. A pub-style quiz hosted by drag artist The Nightbus will test ticketholders’ knowledge of LGBTQ+ London’s venues, historic moments, and transport trivia. Visitors can also enjoy expert talks and join the leaders of TfL’s OUTbound network in conversation. The soundtrack for the night will be curated by DJ Ritu MBE, playing pop, disco, soul, and house.
Claire Alleguen, Chair of OUTbound said, “We are delighted to be teaming up with the iconic London Transport Museum this Pride month for the Pride on the Move Late, showcasing the rich contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to public transport. We are looking forward to a fun night out and hope that you can join us.”
Amy Lamé, London Night Czar said, “I am delighted that the London Transport Museum is celebrating our LGBTQI+ communities next month with this museum late. Pride on the Move is going to be a fabulous event that pays tribute to the important contribution that LGBTQI+ Londoners make in keeping our city running around the clock as we build a better London for everyone.”
