Visit West has launched a new Visit Bristol website, showcasing the city’s independent diverse attractions. The design is clean and fresh, featuring images that reflect Bristol’s vibrant, cultural and unique vibe, capturing users’ attention.
The Visit Bristol website prioritises sustainability by reducing its carbon footprint through consistent font weights and sizes, compressed images, and sparingly placed video content. Accessibility features are integral to the design, with accessible fonts, high colour contrasts and spacing. Designed with a mobile first approach, the site includes scrolling features, bold colours for highlights and easy to use filters. Information is presented in a simpler, more inspiring way to enhance user experience.
The website was designed by Simpleview – the travel and tourism industry’s global provider of digital marketing systems and technologies for destinations – in collaboration with the Visit West team.
Kathryn Davis, Managing Director, Visit West said, “There has been a huge amount of work behind the scenes in the development of this new site. We have been working with partners locally and with the team at Simpleview to actively reduce the carbon impact of the site, by employing new techniques and develop a new way of delivering visitor inspiration and information. This is the 6th site launch by Visit West since its inception in 2021, and so the team should be proud of their huge achievement in raising the bar again in digital destination marketing.”
Visit Bristol’s social media channels have increased presence within the website through ‘Crowdriff’ galleries, showcasing user-generated content to display eye-catching and authentic images of Bristol. Content and inspiration from locals and experts feature across the pages, with blogs woven into the website more organically, providing users with the most up-to-date and relevant information.
The new website also offers fresh sponsorship opportunities for members, businesses and events, with sponsored content clearly marked. Development of the site will continue over the next few months, including the addition of more user-generated content, interactive maps, a first-time visitor page, dynamic content and micro-sites.
