Kenwood House hosts Sargent Exhibition

From 16 May to 5 October, Kenwood House is hosting the exhibition Heiress: Sargent’s American Portraits

This exhibit showcases portraits by the famous painter, John Singer Sargent and includes the so-called ‘dollar princesses’, wealthy American women who married British aristocrats. The exhibition will explore the real lives of the women, including a future wartime nurse, a helicopter pilot and Britain’s first sitting female MP.

The exhibition is a salute to Sargent, the most sought-after portraitist of the Gilded Age and the paintings demonstrate “Sargent’s mastery of portraiture at a time when the seeds of the special relationship between England and America were sown.”

Kenwood House is an English Heritage property on the edge of Hampstead Heath, surrounded by landscaped gardens. The house features world-class art collections which includes Rembrandt’s ‘Self-Portrait with Two Circles’.

Groups of 15+ will receive 10% off admission to the Sargent exhibition, and there will be opportunities for early morning exclusive access . Afternoon tea can be provided for groups of 30+ in The Old Kitchen for £24.50 per person.

For group bookings, please contact Kenwood House. Individual tickets can be booked through the English Heritage website.
