The Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) has launched a new quality scheme designed to uphold the standard of visitor attractions throughout Scotland. The scheme is now available to join.
Developed following consultation with Scottish attractions, the scheme is the first of its kind to be governed and delivered by the sector. It aims to support and recognise world class visitor experiences through evidence-based standards and star gradings, and is delivered on a not-for-profit basis.
The scheme includes:
- Annual or biennial in-person assessment visits.
- Star grading.
- Digital and physical signage at no additional cost.
- Industry Benchmarking opportunities (available from late 2025).
- Access to exclusive training.
- Optional support services including advisory visits, in-person consultation, and website audits.
The scheme has a transparent, tiered pricing model based on visitor numbers, with ASVA members paying significantly less. Entry fees start from £250, ensuring affordability across the sector. The first 10 members to sign up to the scheme will benefit from a LinkedIn post thanking them for their support, and will be scheduled as one of the first sites to be visited and graded.
Michael Golding, CEO of Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions, said, “This scheme is a defining moment for Scottish attractions. It’s a product of real collaboration and vision – built around what our members need, created through sector insight, and focused on raising standards across the board. We now have a scheme that is ethical, accessible, and truly World Class. We’ve delivered on what our sector has asked for and now we look forward to welcoming the sector into this new and bright future.”
