UKinbound has launched a new Brexit campaign that will see a major programme of government and parliamentary engagement over the summer with three key aims:
- Raise awareness of the importance of the inbound tourism industry to the UK economy
- Demonstrate the urgent need to prioritise the inbound tourism industry in the Brexit negotiations
- Press for clarification from Government about the arrangements for access to the UK for both EU tourists and EU tourism workers post-Brexit
An early highlight of the campaign will be a Parliamentary Reception to be held on 19 June. At the reception, UKinbound will launch a report, carried out jointly with Canterbury Christ Church University, on the need for advanced language skills in the sector.
Chief Executive Deirdre Wells said, “With Brexit now just over 300 days away there’s never been a more important time to make sure that parliamentarians and government understand the vital role that our sector plays in the UK economy. That’s why we’re stepping up our engagement with Westminster and Whitehall.”
UKinbound are appealing for members to support a photocall and lobby of parliament that will take place on the same day as the reception.
Antonia Stratford, Head of Public Affairs and Communications, said, “We’re asking our members to come along and take part in a photocall and meet with their MP on 19 June at the House of Commons. It would be great to have a large number of our members from across the sector in uniform if possible, which will really help the overall campaign.”
