On 12 September, Merlin Entertainments‘ latest attraction Bear Grylls Adventure welcomed guests into the £20 million adventure attraction in Birmingham.

Bear Grylls, who visited the attraction to give a final once over, said “It was incredible to see this for the first time, after two years of planning. It’s all about bringing that spirit of endeavour into one place.

“This is the UK’s ultimate adventure destination where people can experience so many of the world’s exciting challenges. You don’t have to go to the furthest mountain range or the deepest sea anymore, we’ve brought it all under one roof in Birmingham!”

At the heart of the attraction is Basecamp, which consists of four team and individual challenges which will equip thrill seekers with all the skills they need for any adventure. Created and inspired by Bear Gryll’s own military experiences and past adventures from across the globe, the challenges include a Survival Maze, Assault Course, Target Archery, and Break Out Escape Rooms.

Other headline activities replicate some of Bear’s incredible adventures including diving, climbing high ropes, and an immersive indoor skydiving activity that replicates wind speed and freefall time of three 12,000 ft sky dives, which actor Ryan Thomas was the first member of the public to try out.

General Manager James Thomas said, “We hope that everyone is as excited to experience The Bear Grylls Adventure as we are about welcoming our first guests. Our 140 new team member have been putting the attraction through its paces, including alongside Bear himself, and we can’t wait to meet the guests that accept the challenge.”

Tickets to Basecamp are priced at £20, with combined Basecamp and headline adventure packages available from £35. For those up for the ultimate challenge, The Bear Grylls Adventure will offer a Go All In Pass for £160 for a full day adventure. For more information visit www.beargryllsadventure.com/tickets.
