Joss Croft, CEO of UKinbound has commented on the latest funding support announced by Government:
“We welcome the Government’s latest commitment to ensuring that UK businesses survive the COVID-19 pandemic but the tourism and hospitality industry urgently need clarity on when and how they can access funding, as some businesses only have a couple of weeks left to survive.
“Additionally, urgent clarity is needed on what the eligibility criteria is for the proposed funding, specifically for our tour operator members who are the backbone of our industry and ensure that the benefits of tourism reach every corner of the UK.
“Whilst we welcome the help for retail, leisure and hospitality businesses with regards to business rates, we would also like to see VAT and PAYE payments removed or at a minimum deferred until this crisis is over and support with paying staff salaries as other European countries are currently doing. “
