The Rt Hon Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP has been appointed by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as the Minister for Media, Tourism and Creative Industries, while Julia Lopez is on maternity leave.
Sir John is also a Minister of State in the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology and the MP for Maldon, first elected in 1992. He was previously appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from May 2015 to July 2016, and a Minister of State for Media and Data in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in February 2020.
