Crossbasket Castle Hotel has announced that its new luxury bedrooms and Scotland’s first-of-its-kind destination restaurant and cocktail bar, Trocadero’s, will open on 16 March 2025, following a £20 million investment.
The new hotel is located within the grand estate of the historic castle and features 40 upscale bedrooms. It also offers a brand-new entertainment-led dining experience overseen by Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux.
Owner Alison Timoney has carefully overseen every aspect of the interior design for the new hotel, focusing on attention to detail and a sense of elegance. The rooms feature bespoke handcrafted furniture and carefully selected materials that create a luxurious atmosphere, with a colour palette that harmonises with the tranquil landscape. The hotel includes two grand suites, four junior suites, eight deluxe rooms, and 26 classic double/twin rooms, reflecting years of thoughtful planning and design.
The new restaurant and cocktail bar aims to transport guests to a charming bygone era, offering top music entertainment, immersive dining experiences, and a carefully curated selection of cocktails and drinks. The hand-picked team is dedicated to delivering entertainment and service that stands out from anything currently available in Scotland.
Named after the 1950s dance hall in Hamilton, Trocadero’s features a live performance setup with a Cadac sound desk and Funktion 1 speakers. This technical system supports high-quality performances, making the venue suitable for established and emerging artists and musicians selected to perform there.
Alison Timoney said, “We are very excited to be announcing an opening date of 16 March 2025 for the new 40-bed hotel and Trocadero’s. A tribute to the elegance and allure of a bygone era, we wanted to create a destination where guests could escape the ordinary and immerse themselves in a world of glamour and sophistication, whilst enjoying the full experience that only the finest live music and entertainment can provide.
“We have an incredibly talented team, who have worked in some of the most respected five-star venues in the world and have been hand chosen to bring this unrivalled experience to us here in Scotland.”
Graeme Green, Managing Director, Crossbasket Castle added, “We have taken exceptional care of all the finer details, and it is thrilling to be upon the moment where we are about to open our doors, and welcome our first guests. Every aspect has been meticulously orchestrated to deliver an unparalleled experience and our entire team are immensely proud of what they are part of.
“Be assured that Crossbasket Castle is going to be the pinnacle of hotel excellence in Scotland.”
Once complete, the venue will have capacity for an additional 35,000 visitors each year and provide over 50 jobs for the local area, delivering a projected economic boost to the South Lanarkshire economy of £5m per annum. It will also be a destination for international visitors seeking a unique experience during their trip to Scotland, contributing to the country’s appeal in the luxury travel market.
The luxury Four Angels Spa, with its bespoke product line, hand-crafted by a local Scottish artisan, will open at Crossbasket Castle in Autumn 2025 alongside two new luxurious eco-cottages that are set to create additional private havens within the castle’s 14-acre estate.
