Hovertravel has once again been awarded the ‘Leader’ level in the Government’s Inclusive Transport Leaders Scheme, the highest level of accreditation within the scheme, in recognition of their commitment to inclusive transport.

Neil Chapman, Managing Director of Hovertravel said, “Hovertravel can demonstrate that it has held the highest level of accreditation since November 2020 and this is a testament to the team at Hovertravel who have driven our HoverCare initiative to achieve such high standards. We want everyone to enjoy the fun of a hovercraft flight and our programme of engagement both internally and externally powers our ongoing development and shares best practices across our industry and our region.”

Hovertravel’s accessibility initiative launched in 2016 and has been recognised by several award schemes. With a framework embedded within the company’s quality management system, HoverCare is run by an internal group of HoverCare leaders, consisting of representatives from all departments in Hovertravel.

As well as having a company-wide perspective, HoverCare invites other businesses, individuals, community support groups, charities and specialist schools to gather feedback through its Try Before You Fly events. Such events are also attended by representatives from the Department for Transport, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and other local transport providers.

Neil added, “We are on a journey and we can still learn so much more, so we work very hard to be open to as many different groups and interests as possible. By actively listening we have shown that we can use feedback from the community to inform us and help us evolve our service through continuous improvements.”
