The Channel Island of Jersey has once again taken centre stage in the highly anticipated reimagining of Bergerac, which returned to TV screens in February 2025.
The new series of Bergerac, described by broadcaster UKTV as a ‘modern reimagining,’ features Damien Molony in the title role, alongside Zoe Wanamaker and Philip Glenister. The new series honours the iconic drama created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran for nine series on the BBC between 1981 and 1991. Its mixture of stunning Jersey scenery, glamorous characters, and intriguing crimes proved a massive hit, attracting nearly 15 million viewers at the height of its popularity and resulting in a spike in visitors to Jersey.
Filming for the new six-episode season took place in Jersey from August to September 2024, and the island’s stunning beaches, quaint fishing harbours, dramatic headlands, and bustling town centre were all used as shooting locations. Top filming locations included:
St. Ouen’s Bay & La Rocco Tower – A stunning beach stretching along the island’s west coast, popular for surfing, watersports, and breathtaking sunsets.
La Pulente – A tranquil stretch of coastline near the south-west corner of Jersey, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Corbière Lighthouse. Overlooked by the luxurious Atlantic Hotel, La Pulente is a favourite among walkers, offering stunning vistas of the island’s west coast.
Bouley Bay – A picturesque cove on Jersey’s northern coastline, beloved by sea swimmers and home to the Bouley Bay Dive Centre. Visitors and locals enjoy fresh Jersey crab sandwiches at the charming Mad Mary’s Café.
Royal Square – Situated in the heart of St. Helier, this historic square is home to the Royal Court and States Assembly (Jersey’s equivalent of Parliament). Encircled by boutique shops, cafes, and traditional pubs, it remains a vibrant hub of island life.
Central Market – A vibrant market in St. Helier that has played a role in island life for over 400 years. The current structure, completed in 1882, is an example of a Victorian open market that continues to operate with a bustling array of fruit and veg vendors, fresh-cut flowers, and boutique shops/stalls.
St. Brelade’s Bay Hotel – Overlooking the golden sands of St. Brelade’s Bay, this hotel has stood as an independently owned and operated landmark for 160 years, within five acres of stunning gardens. The hotel has been featured in both the original and new series of the show.
Gorey – One of Jersey’s best-known locations. It is a fishing village with pastel-coloured cottages and alfresco restaurants, overlooked by the medieval battlements of Mont Orgueil castle. Bergerac leading man Damien Molony also recently took to social media to document a recent holiday to Jersey, which included an overnight stay at The Moorings in Gorey and dinner at the newly opened Veranda restaurant in Gorey Village.
Archirondel – A striking bay on Jersey’s east coast, Archirondel is known for its historic red-and-white Martello tower and scenic pebble beach. Nestled by the shoreline, Driftwood Café is a favourite spot for locals and visitors, offering delicious homemade food.

Tricia Warwick, CEO of Visit Jersey said, “We were delighted to welcome the cast and crew of Bergerac to Jersey last summer – the whole team, including lead actor Damien Molony, embraced everything our island has to offer, from sea swims to fresh Jersey Oysters, exploring our medieval castles and more. Aside from Bergerac himself, Jersey is truly a lead character of the show.
“The modern re-imagining of Bergerac presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase our island to new audiences, who might not realise what an incredible place Jersey is – and less than an hour’s flight from the UK. We hope it connects with devoted fans of the original series but also attracts a new generation of viewers who will be eager to visit the stunning Jersey locations featured in the show.”
The return of Bergerac offers an opportunity for the travel trade to promote Jersey, taking advantage of the show’s nostalgic appeal and modern storytelling. With Jersey’s island setting playing a central role, the series provides a chance to engage audiences and raise awareness of the destination. Travel partners can also access a toolkit to help plan trips to Jersey or use an online training platform to gain more knowledge about the island.
