Last year Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, and largest operator at Aberdeen Airport, introduced six flights per week to Oslo Gardermoen Airport and later introduced a one-stop same-plane service from Newcastle to Oslo via Aberdeen.
Operated by Loganair’s 49-seat Embraer 145 Jet aircraft, the route has proven particularly important for business travel in the energy sector thanks to the growing international oil and gas exports for both Scotland and Norway. Leisure travellers have also taken advantage of the direct route for short city breaks to explore everything from art, architecture and history to Oslo’s vibrant nightlife and tempting culinary scene.
Oslo is just one of three Norwegian cities where Loganair operates, with the airline also currently offering services to Bergen and Stavanger from Edinburgh and Newcastle. Customers travelling from Norway to Scotland can also benefit from onward connections in Loganair’s extensive route network across the UK.
Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer, Loganair said, “Since reinstating the Aberdeen-Oslo route last year, we have supported growth in the business community and strengthened ties between the North-East of Scotland and Norway. These two cities are historically linked through the energy sector but this route also offers excellent connections for tourists heading both ways so it’s one we are committed to and will continue to serve during our winter timetable.”
Martin Langaas, Senior Director Route Development, Avinor Airports said, “Loganair represents a respectable brand and product to the Oslo market. The Aberdeen and Newcastle connection has been very well received among the Norwegian business community. We’re also happy to see that the number of visitors from Scotland to Norway so far this year, has surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Seeing Loganair’s tail fin at Avinor Oslo Airport, is a proof of commitment and dedication to the historic and economical ties between our two North-Atlantic countries.”
