Mercat Tours are launching an exclusive members-only live streaming storytelling event on Saturday 13 February at 6pm to discover the seedier side of the Old Town this Valentine’s Day, whilst raising funds for the local community project.
For those sick of hearts, roses and lockdown ‘Sin in the City’ is just the remedy to escape. Edinburgh’s award-winning storytellers will share sordid stories and hearty laughs on this exclusive live steaming storytelling event. With risqué tales of the city’s most rampant residents, what better way to spend Valentine’s Day this year?
Access the Mercat Tours’ members-only livestream for £10 via a subscription to the Mercat Tours trade newsletter, and 50% of the ticket price will be donated to Mercat’s local community partner, Grassmarket Community Project.
Mercat has an enduring friendship with the local community project, which has been providing homeless people with access to various aid and services since 1982. It’s with this in mind that people are urged to support such an important cause which has been further affected by COVID, whilst also an escaping with any evening of storytelling fun.
Kat Brogan, Managing Director of Mercat Tours said, “We wanted to keep making connections with our team and trade partners whilst safe at home. We’re excited that every purchase will raise temperatures, eyebrows and funds!
“Our famous tales are told by our award-winning storytellers and will make sure that our loyal trade members will enjoy this evening of cheeky tales.
“Just as we did with our Winter Tales series, we’re inviting everyone to ‘coorie in’, this time with a glass of bubbles and chocolates and maybe some special company, if you’re inclined. It means a lot that we can bring our Mercat community together, especially those who need our support such as our friends at GCP.”
Jonny Kinross, CEO of Grassmarket Community Project said, “We are delighted that Mercat Tours has chosen us as the local Edinburgh charity. This financial support is needed now more than ever.
“We have supported over 250 of our most vulnerable this year through the pandemic and lockdowns. This has included people who are homeless, rough sleeping, the elderly, people with a disability or experiencing mental or physical health issues. Many of our members are the most isolated and excluded and COVID-19 has hit them worse than any other group in the city.
“Winter is a particularly difficult time for those we support – when people face a deep sense of loneliness and loss of hope. Thanks to Mercat and its visitors’ support, we will be able to reach out to people, offer practical support, kindness and hope at this most challenging time.”
