The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) and restaurant Mharsanta have announced ‘A Taste of Scotland’, an immersive dining experience hosted in the State Dining Room of Culzean Castle.

This collaboration builds on the existing partnership between NTS and Mharsanta. Mharsanta was recently recognised as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the 2024 UKinbound Awards for Excellence and received the ‘Innovation in Tourism’ award at the 2023 West of Scotland Thistle Awards. These awards highlight Mharsanta’s contributions to the hospitality sector and its efforts to promote innovative tourism experiences.

‘A Taste of Scotland’ offers a dining experience highlighting Scotland’s local produce. Innovative technology enhances the experience in a distinctive setting.

Culzean Castle is located on a clifftop with views of the Isle of Arran. The castle’s history dates back to the time of Robert the Bruce and was later redesigned in the 18th century as a grand country retreat for the 10th Earl of Cassillis. Features include the Eisenhower Apartment, which was gifted to the U.S. President, and the Oval Staircase, known for its colonnades and historic oil paintings.

The event also supports heritage conservation efforts. Proceeds from ‘A Taste of Scotland’ contribute to the National Trust for Scotland’s work in preserving historic sites, including Culzean Castle, for future generations.

Derek Mallon, owner of Mharsanta said, “We are thrilled to partner with The National Trust for Scotland and Culzean Castle. Expanding our ‘Immersive Taste of Scotland Dining Experience’ is exciting for the team, showcasing the best of Scotland’s produce in this fabulous historic property.”

Gary Docherty, Visitor Services Manager at Culzean Castle said, “We’re delighted to collaborate with Mharsanta to take you on a culinary journey of Scotland’s finest larder, all within the grand and comfortable ambience of Culzean Castle’s magnificent State Dining Room.”
