The National Football Museum has revealed a major new exhibition that invites visitors to step right into the story of the beautiful game. From Pitch to Page allows fans of all ages to experience the magic of football annuals from the 1950s to the present day and explore important stories.
Visitors can explore how annuals have evolved throughout the decades and themes around representation and the female game, individual player and club editions, and the impact of England’s performance on the international stage. With four zones to explore, From Pitch To Page offers the opportunity to test footballing knowledge with interactive games and quizzes.
Tim Desmond, CEO of the National Football Museum said, “Football annuals are a wonderful piece of social history, a snapshot in time that reflects the culture of each decade, on and off the pitch. We wanted to create an exhibition that showcases the important role annuals play in football culture and fandom. The immersive and playful journey captures the spirit of the game through the decades and documents the journey of many of football’s legendary players and characters. Annuals hold a special place in many people’s hearts and are a great way to creatively share memories and stories through our love of the game.”
The exhibition features a reading area with hundreds of annuals to browse, and there will be a programme of family events at the museum during the school holidays. Admission to From Pitch to Page is included in the museum ticket.
