Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich has been selected as one of the host venues for The Hagen54, an event that celebrates the historic feat of Jim Barnes and Walter Hagen, who played three Kent links courses in a single day back in 1920.
The event will take place on 23 and 24 July, featuring the links courses of Royal Cinque Ports, Royal St. George’s, and Prince’s Golf Club, offering participants the chance to play 54 holes across these courses in one day. Golfers will follow the same route taken by Barnes and Hagen, starting with 11 holes at Royal Cinque Ports, then 10 at Royal St. George’s, and finishing with 18 holes at Prince’s. The day will end with returning to the starting hole and completing the remaining holes at the other two Championship courses.
Rob McGuirk, General Manager of Prince’s Golf Club said, “Being one of the three venues for The Hagen54 is an honour as we celebrate the golfing history of the Kent coastline. This part of southeast England has hosted many memorable golf events, and we look forward to continuing that tradition with The Hagen54.”
The event will begin on Wednesday 23 July with an optional round of golf at either Prince’s or Royal Cinque Ports, followed by a welcome reception and BBQ at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. The main event on Thursday, July 24, will start with a shotgun start at dawn, with on-course catering and caddies available on request. The day will end with a post-golf supper to celebrate the participants’ achievements.
