Royal Horticultural Society is set to add another garden to their portfolio in 2020. Opening in the summer, RHS Garden Bridgewater in Greater Manchester, named after the historic Bridgewater canal, is set in the grounds of the former 19th century Worsley New Hall. Leading landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith will restore 11 acres of the Weston Walled Garden – one of the largest walled gardens in the country – and will encompass several large gardens, including a Wellbeing Garden, Orchard Garden and Bee & Butterfly Garden as well as a Chinese Streamside Garden.
Melissa Hackney, Group Sales and Marketing Manager said, “2020 is a huge year for the RHS as we see the opening of our first RHS Garden for over 17 years. RHS Garden Bridgewater will make the beauty of an RHS Garden accessible for even more visitors – in particular, those in the North West of England – who will be able to come and explore its treasures for themselves. Alongside our four existing gardens, we now have an even greater choice for groups who can visit year-round, with new developments including the opening of a brand new National Centre for Horticultural Science and Learning at Wisely and the ongoing creation of the UK’s largest perennial meadow at RHS Garden Hyde Hall.
“Our four gardens all enjoy Coach-Friendly Status and groups are hugely important to us. To these ends, we have a dedicated team for groups, and our mission is simple: to make every day for groups as memorable as possible at our gardens. In addition to benefiting from special rates, groups can also make the most of the optional extras that we can arrange, such as private tours and talks, or perhaps a picnic in the garden of a cream tea. We’re also delighted to be continuing to offer our ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer – where if you make a group booking to any of our RHS gardens, you receive a saving up to 50% on your second group visit taken between October 2020 and January 2021. We look forward to welcoming your group soon.”
