The Belfry Hotel & Resort is launching its very own Classic Golf Day. The event will be organised by a professional team and held on courses used for previous competitions.
Sports presenter and journalist, Dan Walker, will host the invite-only Classic Golf Day on Thursday 22 May. The tournament will take place on The Brabazon course at The Belfry, named ‘England’s Best Golf Course 2024’ at the World Golf Awards.
The course has hosted several significant moments in golf history and has been played by figures such as Seve Ballesteros, Sam Torrance, and Christie O’Connor Jr. The event will feature participants from various sports, including football, cricket, horse racing, rugby, and athletics, and individuals from the music and television industries, competing in a four-ball format.
Chris Eigelaar, Resort Director at The Belfry Hotel & Resort said, “We’ve been blown away by the phenomenal response we’ve had from those taking part. With a fantastic lineup of players, an iconic course, and a reputation that precedes us when it comes to hosting prestigious tournaments, the day is sure to become the event of the golfing calendar.
“We’d also like to thank the event’s incredible sponsors, Elliott Group and Turkish Airlines, who have been instrumental in ensuring the first-ever Belfry Classic Golf Day will be a tournament to remember.”
Proceeds from the inaugural Belfry Classic Golf Day will go towards two of the resort’s life-changing partner charities – the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association and Hospitality Action. The Motor Neurone Disease Association is a national charity dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by MND, improving access to care and funding research. Hospitality Action provides relief for hospitality workers in crisis, supplying everything from financial assistance to mental health resources.
Alongside the action on the greens, the day will include an all-day BBQ, live entertainment, multiple drinks receptions, a luxurious gala dinner, an enthralling live auction, and more.
