The Roman Baths has launched a new educational trail, the Medusa Mystery, in collaboration with author Marie Basting. This autumn initiative allows families to explore the historical Roman site through a time-travel narrative centred on Basting’s book Auntie Medusa and Me.

The interactive trail draws on Roman history and ancient mythology to engage visitors of all ages. The story follows Silvia, a young girl who finds herself in Ancient Rome, only to be caught up in a quest to recover Medusa’s lost head. Participants can follow the trail, solving clues to help Silvia complete her task. The trail is included in the price of admission to The Roman Baths and can be collected from the ticket desk.

Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic & Cultural Sustainable Development said, “The Medusa Mystery trail at The Roman Baths is a wonderful way to engage children and families with our city’s rich Roman heritage. By blending history with the excitement of mythology, the trail offers a fun and educational experience for all ages. We’re delighted to be working with Marie Basting and Chicken House Books to bring the trail to life.”

The trail is now available at The Roman Baths until Sunday 1 December 2024.
