Vintage Trains, the UK’s only charitably-controlled train operating company is offering an experience enhanced with high-quality dining, varied menus, authentic Pullman coaches and record-breaking speeds of 75mph uphill.
The summer, autumn and winter season is underway with the launch of a new tour programme and online bookings through a new, fully mobile website.
Highlights for the summer season include great value family offers on the Summer Explorer trains at £50 per person (up to four people including two children under 16) and single tickets at £79. Two of these trains travelling to Llandudno and Liverpool are steam hauled.
Later in the season, Clun Castle makes her first return to the Settle & Carlisle line since 1967 on 24 September and the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe returns to the Express Steam Train series on 1 and 8 October.
In addition, there are other special features in the programme:
The Shakespeare Express
The Shakespeare Express departs from Birmingham Moor Street and Tyseley mainline station, then heads along the Shakespeare line through the rolling Warwickshire countryside to Stratford-upon-Avon. Passengers have over five hours to explore this historic town before re-joining the train for the return journey.
The service will run until 4 September, with return tickets available from £30. Murder on The Shakespeare Express and Mad Hatter’s Tea Parties are available on selected trains.
Summer Explorer
Relaxing train rides to popular tourist and seaside destinations with dining options until October, including Weston-Super-Mare, Settle & Carlisle, York, Llandudno (steam hauled), Chester, Plymouth, Skegness, Portsmouth and Liverpool (steam hauled). Family tickets from £50.
Express Steam Trains
Great Western Railway locomotives will take passengers over the highly scenic Settle & Carlisle line, along the Welsh Marches to Hereford, through the Cotswolds to Oxford and to Bristol and York Christmas markets.
