Visit Kent Sustainability Report 2024

Visit Kent has released its first annual sustainability report, marking 12 months of development against its Sustainable Tourism Action Plan and providing a deeper insight into how Kent as a county is progressing towards sustainability.

Last year, Visit Kent launched its Sustainable Tourism Action Plan, which aimed to help protect and enhance community, climate, and nature across the destination for long-term value—for the local tourism industry and the planet. The action plan provides a framework for the wider sector to use as a roadmap to help play its collective part in tackling and responding to the climate crisis and recovery.

This first one-year report largely mirrors the Sustainable Tourism Action Plan. It includes the organisation’s progress, highlighting relevant Impact Heroes and featuring several case studies from leading Kent businesses and key partnerships. This is supported by Visit Kent’s Sustainability Hub, a central resource for Kent’s tourism business on all things sustainability, including a suite of business resources and the successful new Impact Heroes programme, consisting of inspirational tourism businesses across Kent who are taking steps to embed sustainable tourism into the heart of how they operate and grow.

Progress is tracked through an ongoing monitoring programme that uses seven different data sources to capture 16 different social, environmental, and economic impact indicators.
