Waddesdon Manor is hosting a series of events for its visitors throughout the summer season, ranging from the annual chilli festival, to new art and wine tastings.
Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake, a 12-metre-tall ceramic sculptural pavilion in the form of a three-tiered cake, is a major new Rothschild Foundation commission from Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. The Wedding Cake stands within a grove of trees at Waddesdon beside the 19th-century dairy. Visitors can join a 45-minute guided tour, and afterwards, explore the collection of contemporary sculpture in the Water Garden at the Dairy including Lafite, Vasconcelos’ sculpture in the form of two giant candlesticks made of wine bottles. Tours run on Thursdays and Sundays from 18 June to 26 October 2023.
New art exhibition
Do you remember me… is a major new exhibition at Waddesdon, showcasing never before seen works by Catherine Goodman. Displayed in the Coach House Gallery and the Drawings Room of the Manor, the exhibition focuses on a new body of work including a selection of her new paintings, drawings, collages and works on paper which capture the landscape of Corfu and its rugged, vibrant beauty. The exhibition is open until 29 October 2023.
Chilli festival
The annual chilli festival will take place in the Manor gardens between 1 and 3 September 2023. With handpicked exhibitors, all passionate about chilli, the festival will bringthe best of local artisan producers as well as some of the nation’s best loved independent traders from across the country. Throughout the weekend, visitors can also enjoy live music, family fun and children’s activities as well as the opportunity to walk around the gardens. A special £3 charge will apply for all group visitors.
Cellar tour and tasting
Taking place 7 July, 4 August and 6 October 2023, Waddesdon Manor’s cellar tour and wine tasting is held in the Vault Room and surrounded by one of the most historic collections of Rothschild Wines in the world. Guided by the Wine Team, visitors will have the opportunity to sample two wines from the unparalleled portfolio of wines whilst learning the history of wine production that interweaves the three wine producing arms of the Rothschild Family.
